Moore's Class of 89 Reunion - The Main Event

THE BASICS

DATE: Saturday, July 25, 2009, 6pm – Sunday, July 26, 2009
LOCATION: Horseshoe Casino, Elizabeth, IN (Saturday), Charlie Vettiner Park (B.Y.O.F.) (Sunday)
PRICE: $60 per person, Full Cash Bar
WHAT: Southwest Style Buffet (Chicken, Steak, Chops, Veggies, Fruit, Salads, etc.), Dance Floor, DVD Presentation of Contributed Pictures

ROOMS:

We have a special room rate. We can get rooms for $149, but we are not responsible for reserving these rooms. The Hotel takes care of that. They have to be reserved ahead of the reunion.

CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT TIMES
Check-in time is 4:00PM and check out time is 11:00AM. If you anticipate a large number of early arrivals or late departures, arrangements for appropriate baggage hold must be made with our Convention Services Department when reviewing the final details.

ROOM RATES
Horseshoe Southern Indiana Hotel is pleased to confirm the following guestroom rates for Moore High School Class Reunion Class of 1989 during the above dates:

Room: Run of House
Single Rate: 149.00
Double Rate: 149.00

The above rates are net non-commissionable and are subject to city, state and hotel taxes which currently total 11%. There will be an additional charge of $10.00 per person for 3rd and 4th persons in the same room.

HOTEL RESERVATION PROCEDURES
It is our understanding reservations will be made on an individual basis. Please advise your attendees to call 1-866-766-2671 for reservations and to be certain to identify the following Group Code in order to receive the group rate – S07MHSR. A credit card will be required for room guarantee. The Hotel will accept reservations until The Group’s cut-off date. Reservations received after The Group’s cut-off date will be honored on a space available basis and may be at a higher rate. All reservations are subject to a 24 hour cancellation policy. Any reservation cancelled within 24 hours of arrival will be charged one nights room and tax as a penalty.

Payments can be sent now and if you know you're definitely going to be able to make it. Since we are paying for the function as we go, the sooner we can start getting them, but better off we'll be. We're using the phrase "non-refundable," but by that we mean we don't people just to back out at the last minute. If there is a family emergency that cannot be avoided, we should be able to refund money in that case. Hopefully we will have enough extra cash to pay anyone that needs to be refunded. But we have to have enough to pay for the venue.

Next Meeting & Good Comments

We’ve decided on Sunday, August 17th at 7:00 at Bluegrass Martial Arts. Directions are below in the 2nd post.

Also we've had lots of good suggestions. Kelli Grau Jones made this comment:

"...thought I would pass along an idea...Could we make it a weekend kind of thing? Maybe picnic one day, then more formal reunion the next, etc...I will be coming in from out of town and would like to spend as much time catching up with everyone as possible. Maybe picnic could be family day with the kids or whatever. Just an idea....I would be happy to help out with planning, whatever I can do via e-mail etc...See you soon!"

Excellent idea. The "Weekend Event" concept is definitely in the mix. We discussed just this sort of thing in the last meeting. We think its very doable. Thanks for the feedback everyone and keep it coming. :)

We had a meet'n

Jonathan Drake, David Rushing, Larry Higdon, and myself... made it. We had some good ideas. We are thinking of doing it next year. That was a tricky thing for us to figure out considering where each of us finished in class rank. But 2009 would make 20 years so I guess that will work. We're thinking summer to fall. Different venues are being explored and we are gathering some rates. The challenge, as with any class reunion is how to fund everything. So we are working on some ideas there. We welcome everyone's comments.

First Meeting

We'll be re-voting to depose all the class officers... and while we're at it, renouncing all homecoming kings and queens from 86-89. Its a coup d’état and you can be a part of it! Fight the system!
